Dear Colleagues,
After a successful European Epilepsy Congress this summer (see this highlight video), ILAE is looking forward to three more regional congresses this year. Next week, the 12th Latin American Epilepsy Congress will take place from 1 – 4 October in Medellin, Colombia. The following month, the 14th Asian & Oceanian Epilepsy Congress will take place online from 17 – 19 November. The Saudi Epilepsy Society will also host the 6th Eastern Mediterranean Epilepsy Congress from 16 – 19 November in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and online. We invite you to join us for these engaging educational experiences, as well as participate in our diverse programming across the organisation.
Seeking comments on new ILAE position paper
The ILAE Nomenclature Task Force prepared a paper about terms to describe epilepsy medications and treatments. The paper seeks to standardize the terms we use to identify the different types and goals of epilepsy treatments. We now encourage you to review and submit your views, so these can be collated and contribute to the final agreed manuscript.
Read draft and submit a comment | Deadline: 29 October 2022
Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders
Over the last few weeks, ILAE has presented statements addressing our role in achieving the targets of the Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders (IGAP) during the recent World Health Organization Regional Committee sessions in Africa, Europe and South East Asia. ILAE also plans to contribute during the upcoming sessions in the Americas, Eastern Mediterranean and Western Pacific. A series of Townhall meetings with Chapter Leaders are planned over the next three months to provide more detailed information about IGAP and to collectively develop a comprehensive, whole-of-organisation implementation plan. More information including dates for the virtual Townhall meetings will follow in a special newsletter early next month.
